Feeling miserable

I hate staying at hospitals.

Yesterday I was feeling nauseous and had a terrible sore throat.

Today is a bit better but my cheeks are so swollen. They even wobble when I walk..

*wobble wobble*

I feel like a giant hamtaro. :(

Tried eating pasta just now but failed miserably…now I just hope the wounds won’t get infected.

This is going to be a long week…

Hit the jump if you’re not squirmish. :P

Feeling intellectual

I think it’s that time of the year again when I feel a small longing to read an actual book. Not sure why I happen to suffer from this strange illness but maybe it has to do with me staring at screens for far too long. If I’m at home, I’ll be on my computer either surfing the net or working. If I’m not on the computer, I’ll be watching TV or playing my PS3 or Wii. If I’m not at home, I’ll be staring at my iphone doing whatever. Screens screens screens everywhere! So I decided to pick up a little something to read for the next week or so.

You can’t see it but the small words on the cover says, “Witty and sinfully sensual”. My my don’t you just want to dive straight into that book right now? This book will keep me good company at the hospital this weekend…never thought I’ll be staying at the hospital again so soon but I gotta do what I gotta do. And before anyone says it, no, I’m not having plastic surgery. I’m removing all 4 of my wisdom teeth so I’m in for a week of suffering and sipping food through straws like a grandma. I was talking to Tej yesterday about the operation and she asked, “what are the risks? you lose your wisdom?”. A+ comments by A+ people. That’s why I love my friends…

To round off today’s post, a little paragraph from one of those joke emails forwarded by my parents:

A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.
She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, ‘I feel
horrible; I look old, fat and ugly.
I really need you to pay me a compliment.’
The husband replies, ‘Your eyesight’s damn near perfect.’

Ok, off to start reading my new book. I’ll let you know if it’s good Cuz. *wink*

RIP ~ 2009

I was talking to Cuz online the other day and he had somber news to tell me:

Borders on Oxford Street is closing

I yawned. You’re probably yawning. But I knew to Cuz this was absolutely devastating news. Borders on Oxford Street was like a second first home to him. Now, where else would he find a place to study? Where else would he find a place to read for free? Where else would he find a place to gossip, giggle and go teeheehee with friends? Probably at home or other bookshops around London…but that’s not the point!

Cuz was so sad that he asked me to make a blog entry about this, hence you’re reading this (sorry guys!) However, Cuz will be happy to know that he has special powers to foresee the future. Or more like special powers to predict retail shop placements on Oxford Street. In his anguish he wrote this to me:

“all these morons feeling sad about michael jackson
this actually makes me sad
i wonder what’s going to replace it
probably another fking new look or something”

Five minutes later, he sent me an article that read:

In a few weeks this 40,000 sq ft bookshop will be a New Look fashion superstore, knocking out cheap fashion to teenage girls; a change that will surely only delight philistines.

Shit. That has got to hurt.

So lets all join Cuz during this moment of grieving and say a little prayer. I’ll be cranking up ‘em country tunes all day long….you should too.

Fame

A few days ago, I was at my 14 year old cousin’s school to watch their production of Fame the musical. First off, I have to say that her school is crazy. The size of the place is like a freaking campus and they have tennis courts, a basketball court, a swimming pool and a massive field. They even have a nice decent place for them to change by the pool! Unfair! When I was at primary school, we had this tiny metallic hut to change in (one for the boys and one for the girls). So it’ll be us all cramped in there, standing on the disgusting floor, all wet and it’ll be dark cause there weren’t any lights…so dark that you wouldn’t even know whose underwear you were putting on. And because the hut was right next to and facing the pool, if someone opens the door everyone can see right in. *insert malu face* I sure hope pedobear wasn’t hiding underwater with a bamboo shoot…

Anyways, why do I always go so off topic? The musical was surprisingly really good. No one believes me when I tell them this and I don’t blame them. Over here school performances are carried out by untalented or mediocre students at best and the only reason why you would applaud them is due to pity (whoever applauded during my school performances, I know what you were really thinking). But for this school production, everything was at a standard equal to well…something you would pay for in Malaysia. It was definitely better than Menopause the musical but that’s a given (still don’t know why I went for that one). The thing that I was impressed with the most was the portrayal of the main characters. The students all looked and sounded the part…they didn’t just go on stage and read lines or remember dance steps. You could tell they were really into it and that made it believable. A big round of applause for whoever who was involved!

In my eyes though, the biggest star of the night was my dear twin cousin. She was kneeling on the floor by the stage for 2 hours as she had to film the performance. My lovely twinny you did an awesome job! *big hugz*

Sigh…they grow up so fast. *tear*

It’s outtt

Remember that little paid job I had not too long ago? It was an advertisement for an ITV show that I’ve never heard of but is apparently quite big. Well, here’s the ad that was aired just recently:

Clicky here

A group of us worked for a week on the shot from 0.20s to 0.25s. Tedious work for 5 seconds of footage…

Quite happy though cause this job funded my new iphone. Hee. :)

Family field trip

Tomorrow the parents and I will be embarking on a special family field trip together to the hospital. I guess it’s that time of the year again when checkups are due. I don’t really mind hospitals as long as I don’t have to stay in one, but checkups normally mean fasting and that means the tummy will be empty and needy throughout tomorrow. *pout*

As for my palpitations, the doctor said what I thought all along – there’s nothing wrong with my heart. I was thinking that if the problem did lie within my bashful heart I wouldn’t be getting any better, instead I would be getting worse. Although, I find that doctors do tend to prejudge you based on your age. He took one look at my age and since I’m not seizing and foaming on the floor, I don’t think he paid much attention to what I was saying at all. Which technically should be fine cause I agree with him, except that he’s not very helpful. I would like to get some more feedback you know if it’s not the heart, what else could it be. But I guess he’s not interested. *sigh*

Anyways, so that’s the update for anyone who’s worried and cares. I’ll be doing an echo tomorrow and some other non-related tests along with the parents. Urgh, I hate these tests. Ok I need to go snooze now, I’ve been typing with my eyes half closed. Night everyone!

Weep no more my fellow readers!

Due to popular demand, themonkeyeffect is back and fruitier than ever! Now, I know the theme looks all sorts of weird but the last time I refused to post anything until I was happy with the theme, well, it resulted in this blog being inactive for a year. So no more of that…that vanity! You guys will just have to learn to adjust your eyes to this.

So ta ta my loyal readers, till tomorrow.
